Claire came into Wigtox feeling fed up. She was worried about her sagging jowls and complained that it happened over the past few years. It was making her look and feel older than she actually was. She was looking to lift the jowls but didn’t know how this could be achieved without undergoing a surgical facelift.

The consultation process

After a long consultation with our highly qualified practitioner Carl. He suggested the most effective course of treatment would be to target specific areas of the face.

The suggested procedure was a PDO cog threads treatment.This is a thread lift procedure that targets the face and neck. The threads around the face contain small barbs that anchor into place and make it possible to pull the skin up around the face and neck. Lifting the skin would work like a non-surgical facelift and minimise the appearance of saggy jowls.

For this type of treatment Claire would require two appointments, one when she was ready to start and another four weeks later to complete the procedure.

Most PDO thread lifts can last up to eighteen months or longer when undertaken by trained professionals.

The presence of these threads in your skin triggers cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen. PDO threads can be further divided into three categories:

1. PDO mono threads- smooth sutures that help rejuvenate your skin by stimulating collagen production.
2. PDO cog threads - these threads have barbs that latch into your skin like small fishhooks to provide support and lift parts of the face.
3. PDO screw threads – made up of one or two intertwined threads these are used to help restore volume to sunken parts of the skin4
